Pregnancy is a wonderful time but one where your body and its needs change almost daily. Old aches and pains may vanish, only to find new ones replacing them! The changes in your body include the obvious such as a the skin stretching and more pressure on the back and pelvis to less obvious ones such as swelling feet and pain in ligaments, tendons and fascia as your bones, muscles and organs move to create space for your little one.
Massage can be wonderful in releasing tension from stretching muscles and aching from fascia. Massage is NOT safe up until the 12th week of pregnancy. Once you are past that date, massage can be enjoyed and you can reap the benefits of regular treatments. You may find you no longer want massages lying down or feel uncomfortable being touched excessively but it doesn't mean you can't relax. Head and neck massages and lower leg and foot massages can be wonderfully relieving and provide some much needed me time.
The same goes for post pregnancy! Every new mum deserves some pampering after labour and those first newborn weeks. Massages can be tailor made for what you need and feel comfortable with whilst still providing that much needed muscular release.
